The appointment of a Cricket NSW regional coach for the region is a significant step to providing the regions elite young talent with the opportunity to further develop their games and progress in the Cricket NSW player pathway.
“Phil will be offering a regional program that is aligned closely with the Cricket NSW curriculum,” coach and pathway manager for southern NSW Greg McLay said.
“Phil understands the types of outcomes Cricket NSW would like to achieve with the program and he has the skills and knowledge to deliver an outstanding development program for the best young talent in the region.”
Wells has played at the top level in Sydney for 13 years, winning premierships and having twice posted 1000+ runs in Sydney First Grade – including a stint in the NSW second XI.
Wells will turn out for the Campbelltown Camden Cricket Club for his 14th season this year, where he will take on a leadership role while coaching the Poidevin Gray team. The program will operate from September-December and focus on preparing athletes for the Southern Cricket Zone representative season in November and future state based carnivals.
