Ms Sudmalis refused to reveal her plans for the property.
She purchased the house on June 6, less than two years out from the next federal election in May, 2019 or earlier.
A Huon Valley real estate agent said Franklin had been popular among retirees and investors from the mainland.
Older couples and families are the most prevalent demographic of buyers in Franklin, and more than 65 per cent of home buyers are aged 45-64.
The market hasn’t experienced a boom in recent years, but there has been steady growth in house prices closer to town.
“It depends on where the property is,” Huon Valley real estate agent Jamie Bantick said.
“Around town there’s been some growth in the market, a bit further away from town it’s pretty slow like any rural area.”
There were 326 people living in Franklin at the time of the 2011 census and the median property price was $365,000 as of June.
Franklin’s attractions include a vast array of sports grounds, the riverside setting and boutique shops in town.
