What you noticed, as soon as you walked, was it was a warm and welcoming place.
Then a smell of something pretty yummy then wafts towards you, followed closely by the sound of laughter.
A quick look in the kitchen you find a group of volunteers busy preparing the evening meal - which turned out to be a delicious shepherd’s pie.
So you quell your hunger and go upstairs to the section where homeless men will bed down for the night.
The room is just great.
Beds are set up, the television is on and the lounge chairs are so comfortable it would be easy to curl up and fall asleep.
Next to you is a homeless man who has booked in for the night.
He likes what he sees and hopes to book in as many times as he can.
He, like many others, get shelter where they can which is pretty much outside in the cold.
Well done to all the local churches and volunteers for setting this shelter up.
The Safe Shelters Shoalhaven plan will run open to each night from June 1 to September 29 and will give people somewhere to stay and it will also be available in times of emergencies like major storms.
The Shoalhaven Homeless Hub is taking bookings and people can call 4423 2804 to get their warm and comfortable bed.
