Group coordinator Betty Bourke has strong memories of the time she gave a girl with cancer a quilt.
“It was very emotional – I cried and she cried,” Mrs Bourke said.
The Have a Chat members have been working hard since February and made 90 quilts as part of their latest donation.
The quilts will be given to Team Shoalhaven and they will be passed onto the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Team Shoalhaven representative Donna Buikstra and Cindy Dibben recently collected the wonderful quilts from the craft group’s St Georges Basin base.
The quilts are wrapped and given to children in Starlight rooms all over Australia.
Local children also get these quilts which are made not only with skill but with also with love.
The quilts have been donated to Team Shoalhaven for over five years and always make the live of sick children brighter.
See their Facebook page Team Shoalhaven 'Raising Money For Sick Kids' for more information.
About the Starlight Foundation
Starlight's mission is ‘to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families’.
Because sick kids are still kids at heart.
When a once-bright life becomes dulled by needles, hospital visits and painful treatments, Starlight helps sick kids forget their illness and re-discover the joy of childhood.
Starlight knows there's more to treatment than medicine. That's why since 1988, we've partnered with Australian health professionals to develop programs based on positive psychology principles that support the 'total care' of our children and teens.
Starlight’s unique programs are the result of extensive research and respond to the specific needs of Aussie kids and teens.
Starlight knows what kids and their families are facing when serious illness or injury consumes their lives.
They disrupt the relentless cycle of pain and trauma and offer a welcome break so that sick kids can simply be kids.
Starlight believes fun fights fear and wins every time.
