The Milton 1 side was a talented line-up with Adam Grills and Ashley Mathie playing the ones, Nathan Shea and Murray Fox the twos and Les Myers and Jamie Simmons the threes. The action was fast and furious with Adam and Ashley both outstanding in their positions scoring some wonderful goals. Jamie and Les defended their areas brilliantly with Nathan and Murray being great blockers in the midfield. Playing in the A/B open division saw the team up against outstanding opposition and they were unlucky to miss out on the final by a goal.
Milton 2 was made up of Kym McMaster and Jessica Liddiard in the 1 spot, Gavin Morton and Paul Anderson in the 2s and Phoenix Whitten and Luke Wilford the 3s. The two sections had a brilliant weekend ending up runners-up in the C open division, Kym McMaster crediting the two’s brilliant plays as the highlight.
Milton 3 consisted of Heath Cole and Katrina Lavis as 1s, Rebecca Grills and Cody Schutz as 2s and Glenn Wilford and Kim Porter the 3s. Heath and Katrina worked on their goal shooting skills with quite a bit of success, Bec Grills was outstanding as the 2, helping other players learn the game, plus being a strong rider midfield. Well done Cody for putting in another great carnival. Glenn and Kim showed their experience in the defenders position. The team finished runners-up in the D open section, going down to a strong Yass outfit.
Amy Lyons, Drew Morton, Georgia Herne, Dana Shea and Sally Herne made up other teams and it was fantastic to see the juniors improve and play good strong games. Dana, on the fabulous Calvin, was a pleasure to watch in the 3 position while Georgia and her pony are starting to show how they can get into play to hunt the ball, Drew was a goal scoring machine on Rusty and Amy had another great carnival on her mare Cherry.
Congratulations to Saffy Fox and Ian Herne who represented the club in the sub juniors. Both are working hard at their ball skills and are riding their horses confidently.
Special mention to Julie Murray and Barb Anderson who are the masterminds in the canteen. Julie again made the Friday night meal the club’s signature with Saturday night’s feature overseen by the amazing Barb Anderson.
The wonderful Merv and Anne Bennett again must be mentioned as without their willingness to make available their fields the carnival wouldn’t run.
Also thanks to the many sponsors of our carnival, without your support the carnival wouldn’t be nearly as successful.
