Playing at the Northern Suburbs Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday, Ian Ozolins and his troops put their one point loss to Queanbeyan behind them and defeated the North Sydney Bears 85-69.
“The boys trained well last week after the loss to the Yowies – obviously the loss hurt but it refocused the boys, with training being really positive,” Ozolins said.
“It showed on Saturday, with us starting extremely positive, to be up 8-nil after just one minute.
“But the momentum was halted when Jackson Weeks went down with an ankle injury – which saw Norths go on a run.
“We eventually settled, made the necessary adjustments and regained our free-flowing style of play.”
With the loss of Weeks, Ozolins was happy with the way a number of players were able to step up.
“Ben Morris probably had his best game of the season for us – bringing us that spark off the bench,” he said.
“Both Brendan Sampson and Bruce Ozolins rebounded well and made up for the loss of Weeks in the middle.”
In the win, the Tigers were led by Bruce Ozolins and Alex Brown, who both scored 20 points, while both William and Tom Ozolins chipped in 12 points.
The team will again be on the road this Saturday, heading to Canberra to play the Gunners.
“Canberra present a massive challenge but one I know our boys are capable of overcoming,” Ozolins said.
