The Shoalhaven Mariners 3rd Grade side had a great game against Berkeley Eagles at Dapto last Saturday morning with the Mariners coming away with their first win of the season – an 8-4 victory.

Lee Lawson pitched a convincing game on the mound with 10 strike outs.
It was a low error game from the Mariners which contributed to the win.
Simon Levy had a strong performance with the bat having 4 hits from 4 at bats. Lee Lawson and Andrew Provest had a 3 base hit each bringing in runs to the board. Jayden Brain, Stuart Raymond, Dalton Haines and Austin Raymond also had a safe hit each.
Troy Fleming and Kevin Sheather were Berkeley Eagles’ stand out batters each having a 2 base hit each.
Mariners have now played all the teams in the round and all have been very close games. We are looking forward to strong performances in 3rd grade this season.
Meantime, having played three games now with no losses, 6th grade have started off the season with one of the best records for any Mariners team.
On Sunday, May 14, we played Dapto Chiefs at Ison Park, winning 10-3.
This team is made up with a large number of players that have never played before. We have a father Steve and son Jack combination playing together for a first time ever event.
Steve and his local business Coastal Distributors have enjoyed it enough to sponsor Mariners 6th grade team this season, supplying us with a new set of uniform playing shirts.
Austin Raymond pitched a full game, doing a great job on the mound. This was his first full game pitching in a senior game, having 9 strike outs, supported well by catcher Ben Elliott.
Steve Farrugia , Tausia Antonio and Brodie O’Reilly, three of our newcomers, had single hits. Matt Forster had a nice double hit. Ben Elliott had the hit of the game with a home run batting in 3 runs.
A great team effort and so nice to see these guys having so much fun.
Dapto Chiefs’ stand-out batter was Wesley Lavila who hit a home run batting in 3 runs - Chiefs total runs of the day.
