Get ready for choir flash mobs, Nowra.
After the success of the inaugural One Voice Shoalhaven event on April 1, the group is looking to form a community choir.
The One Voice Shoalhaven Choir is on the hunt for anyone looking to sing, make friends and share their voice with the community.
Choir mistress Sue Hammond-Warne said everyone is welcome.
“Anyone who likes to sing is welcome to join us in singing on the streets, singing around Nowra and, hopefully, at nursing homes and Christmas carols,” she said.
“We’ll be doing sheet singing from past, present and future.”
The group is set to host their first choir gathering on Friday, May 19 at Bomaderry Uniting Church from 10am to 12pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
One Voice Shoalhaven was formed by Meroo Meadow woman, Sheelagh Cameron. The group honours Mrs Cameron’s son, Gavin Cameron, who passed away from melanoma three years ago.
Mrs Cameron started the Gavin Cameron Foundation to raise awareness of melanoma.
A masquerade ball will be the next One Voice Shoalhaven fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards the Gavin Cameron Foundation
The ‘Black and Silver’ themed ball will be held at the Nowra Golf Club on November 4.
With plenty of local entertainers lining up to perform on the night, and the chance to dress up and party the night away, now’s the time to grab tickets.
Auctions will be held, with plenty of great prizes up for grabs.
Tickets are $65 and can be purchased from Sue Hammond on 0447 611 642.
Along with the masquerade ball, One Voice Shoalhaven is also looking ahead to their next family fun day.
The ‘Picnic in the Park’ will be held on March 11, 2018. There will be no shortage of food vendors and activities for the whole family – and of course, plenty of singing.
After raising $1500 through gold coin donations at the first One Voice Shoalhaven event, Mrs Cameron is hoping both the masquerade ball and the One Voice Shoalhaven event can raise more funds for the Gavin Cameron Foundation and give a voice to the community.
“One Voice is something that enables everyone to have a voice and be a valued member of an organisation,” Mrs Cameron said.
