Along with the Grand Street Parade which offers a fantastic opportunity to get close to all of the bands with their bagpipes and drummers, the Berry Celtic Festival is not to be missed.
Berry Rotary Club’s Grahame Sweeney said this year’s event will feature plenty of fresh entertainment.
“We will have medieval knights on horse back jousting as well as fighting in the field,” he said.
“There are eight pipe bands and about 15 celtic clans represented in the parade.”
Commencing at 9.30am the Grand Street Parade through the streets of Berry showcases all the distinctive colourful kilts and the pipe bands along with the various celtic clans, Scottish terrier dogs, vintage cars and hot rods.
“The Isle of Man is renowned for the Tourist Trophy motorcycle race, so we are hoping to have them represented in the parade,” Mr Sweeney said.
“Also, the guests are going to be transported by horse and carriage, so the parade will be quite a spectacle.”
Once at Berry Showground, visitors can expect to experience the marching of the massed bands to the sound of the bagpipes reverberating around the grounds.
The full day of entertainment commences with musical items, pipe bands, celtic fiddlers, highland dancing, enchanted singing, and lots of celtic merchandise stalls to view.
The Berry Celtic Festival is a fundraising project of the Rotary Club of Berry and is proud to have the support of many other community groups and service clubs including Zonta Berry, the Berry Showground Trust, Berry Chamber of Commerce and Shoalhaven City Council.
Funds from last year’s event went toward the activities of Shoalhaven CanAssist, as well as other approved Rotary projects.
Details: Saturday, May 27, Street parade along Queen Street and Alexandra Street to Berry Showground for the all-day entertainment.
