Nowra High lined up in the round three clash with Moss Vale at the Shoalhaven Regional Hockey Complex at North Nowra.
Nowra came into the game after a hard fought 1-nil win over Bomaderry and knew the clash with Moss Vale, which boasted a number of top aged, well credentialed hockey players, would be tough.
And that’s the way the game panned out.
The first half was a tight arm wrestle with Nowra High taking the lead in the final minute of play through a goal by Julia Nowak.
The second half was much the same with each side making opportunities but failing to convert.
Moss Vale equalised late in the half with Hannah Whatman scoring the goal and despite both sides creating chances the scores remained locked at fulltime, forcing the game into sudden death golden goal extra time.
Early in that period Moss Vale managed to secure a short corner which Hannah Whatman converted to take the thrilling match 2-1.
