Nearly 10 years ago the pair created a jazz/gypsy band to teach kids about music and have since toured the country extensively in person and on the small screen.
Now they’ve created a music program with teacher resources, music and sheet music to go with it, with a “pay it forward” element.
“The idea is parents will purchase the materials ... and we gift it to the school or day care. Bascially we’re using the idea of paying it forward so parents can really choose where they want the program to go. So more children will get access immediately,” Tina said.
“The program’s not to make money but put more music into preschools.”
The pair have been visiting early learning centres everywhere (including two in Wollongong on Thursday) to find out what parents and teachers need and want.
“The difference in the way daycares treat arts and music education in each centre is [different], chalk and cheese. Some centres have absolutely nothing, some centres have a dedicated music teacher,” Mark said.
The interactive digital progam will be released in the next couple of months with pricing to be around $20. Once a parent has purchased a copy it will then be gifted to the child care centre so everyone else enrolled can benefit.
Meantime Lah-Lah will perform at her old stomping ground for the first time, the University of Wollongong, on September 16.
