Barker’s bringing his “Organic” comedy show to Anita’s Theatre in Thirroul this Saturday, ending with a song to bring it all together.
“I think it adds more of a show feel when you add a little music into it,” he said.
When not trying to make people laugh, Barker has taken an interest in DIY projects and filming them for Youtube with mate Australian comedian Steven Gates (from Tripod).
While it’s not meant to be slick comedy the videos of Barker explaining power-tools and easy garage storage solutions do end up quite funny.
“I was really excited by this new hobby and my friend said ‘let’s film it’. But I said ‘I don’t know what I’m doing half the time’ and he said that was exactly why we should do it,” he said
“No major injuries yet and hopefully not.”
The biggest thing Barker has learnt by delving into Bunnings or the like is to “expect the unexpected”.
“When you think you’ve measured everything 100 per cent you and you think everything’s perfect still sonething that you didn’t plan for is going to happen and you’ve just have to deal with it,” he said.
“I think that’s a good lesson to apply to life in general, nothing ever goes to plan and if it did it would be pretty boring.”
