The Suns were out of the box early with a fast flowing game style which saw them take control of the game for the first 15 minutes. The margin could have been far greater if not for some stout defence from Bomaderry’s backline, led by 250 gamer Luke McCann (only the second played to do so in the club’s 48 year history). The Tigers trialled by 12 after one.
The second term was very tight with teams kept to one goal a piece thanks to the efforts of the respective backlines, who continually repelled any attacking forays. The third quarter saw the Suns skip away to a 34 points at three-quarter time. Despite opening the fourth quarter with three goals, the Suns ended with four majors to win by 45 points.
Final Score: Bomaderry 7.4-46 Shellharbour 14.7-91
Goalkickers: B. Girling 2, M. Hickmott, J. Boxsell, J. Lapatha, M. Farrow and T. Sue one goal.
Award winners: Matt Polman (Crofty’s Tyre and Auto and ‘Deli on Kinghorne’ vouchers), Tom Hines (Bridge Tavern meal voucher), Luke McCann (Kel Campbell Caltex fuel card), Matt Tyler (Tuscany Wood Fired Top Tackle award), Courtney Ward (Mamma’s Italian Kitchen award), Jack Boxsell (‘Scruples’ Hairstyles voucher) and Luke McCann (Dunn and Williams coaches cup).
Bomaderry’s reserve grade won their second game on the trot, defeating the Shellharbour Suns. The Tigers started well with two goals in the opening term while keeping the Suns goalless. The second quarter saw the Suns fight back with a four goals to Bomaderry’s three, but after words from coach Graham Duke, the Tigers came out roaring in the second half to run out comfortable winners.
Final Score: Bomaderry 10.10-70 Shellharbour 6.10-46
