The Mariners 3rd grade team battled the Northern Pirates led by Lee Lawson and his outstanding defence.
Lawson pitched a complete game giving up 2 earned and 2 unearned runs.
Second-year sensation Jayden Brain broke the scoring drought with a 2-run double followed by 2 base hits from Stuart Raymond.
Matt Forster, Dalton Haines and Gabe Tate all added base hits.

The 2nd and 3rd grade Mariners will travel to Cringila Community Park to take on the West Illawarra Cardinals in round 5 action this Saturday.
Meantime, the 6th grade Mariners kicked off their inaugural season in the minor league division.
The Mariner 6th grade team consists of first-time baseball players and players who stepped away from the game over a decade ago.
The Mariners opened up against an experienced Warriors team but that did not slow the Mariners down.
The local club battled to a 10-10 draw and had strong performances from Simon Levy, Austin Raymond, Tony Burgess and Greg Symmans.
With the potential of new players getting better each week a strong foundation of local baseball players is being established in the Shoalhaven region.
The Mariners is the youngest club participating in the Illawarra Baseball League.
