The T-intersection of Lake Entrance Road and Leawarra Avenue has signalised pedestrian crossings on the eastern and southern sides.
But there is no crossing on the western side.
Roads and Maritime Services is installing lights on that side, at a cost of $220,000.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said the move “was not in response to any incident”.
Work is expected to start in May and take about four weeks to complete.
“This project will further improve safety for pedestrians in the area and provide them with a more direct route across Lake Entrance Road, improving transport connectivity,” the Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said.
