THE Gerringong Breakers might have a new man in charge of their first grade side in 2017 but their goal is still they same. Following the departure of Craig Farquhar, the team will be coached by Jadon Lavington.

“It was an easy decision to put my hand up and coach, as I love this club/area and will do whatever is required for the club,” Lavington said.
“Both my kids play for our juniors and my wife plays in senior women - it was a no brainer.”
In his first year in charge, Lavington, who will have his brother Jesse Fenn as his assistant, hopes his enthusiasm can translate to results on the field.
“This season we will be without Brad Boardman but the rest of the team is pretty similar to last year, except we have gained some lads from our reserve grade and players like Jake Packham from Warilla and Kane Rowe from Kiama,” he said.
“I’ll also be counting on David Tanevski, Doug Davidson and Drew Croft to have big years.”
On the back on their recent success in the FFA Cup, which saw them progress all the way to round three before being defeated by Bankstown United FC 5-nil at the weekend, Lavington hopes to return to finals football.
“Our fitness let us down a little, with Bankstown scoring four goals in the final 20 minutes,” Lavington said.
“This FFA Cup run has been great to prepare for the season, where we will be hoping to sneak into the top four.
“We know that you don’t need to come first to win the grand final, so it’s all about building with every game we play.”
