Nowra High School draws students from as far north as Gerringong and as far south as Ulladulla, on the South Coast of New South Wales.
The school has a long history of academic, cultural and sporting achievements. The school has proudly returned to its comprehensive status – technology enhanced education remains important but vocational courses need to be emphasised.

This is reflected in the fantastic results in the 2016 Year 12 HSC achieved by Nowra High School. Some of the highlights were:
• Two students gained first in the state in their respective subjects Dance and French and third in the state for Retail Services (TAFE NSW).
• There were 35 Band 6 results and 103 Band 5 results.
• Eight students achieved an ATAR above 90
• For Advanced English, six students achieved top band results
• French had five students in the top band
• Extension 1 English with four scholars in top band results
• Extension 2 English, Extension 2 Mathematics and Extension History - students achieved the top band result in these subjects
Nowra High School celebrated many other achievements. A Year 12 student was the recipient of the Victor Chang Science Award, the Year 8 debating team were the zone champions, and the Year 9 Debating team were runners-up at the regional final for the Premier's Debating Challenge.
The Tournament of Minds teams were regional finalists, which is a fantastic result.
The school shines at sport too. At the Australian Junior Athletics Championships, there were two 3rds, a 5th and 7th; a silver medal at the CHS Basketball championships, National Indigenous Football League representatives and regional finalists in the Davidson Shield Cricket.
Also students were grand finalists at Youth Rock and achieved second place in the Xfire Battle of the Bands.
Sporting teams and individuals achieved their personal best at zone, regional, state and national levels.
