“I decided to coach after no one put their hand up to do it and now I’m really enjoying the role,” White said.
“It’s very rewarding seeing your team mates enjoying their football again - I feel last year the boys got to a point when they were not enjoying it and at the end of the day that’s what we are here to do.”
Despite losing Roy Miller, Scott Fagerland and Conor Edenden, White believes his team are prepared for the season.
“Initially in pre-season, we were not getting to many numbers at training but over the weeks, we seen our numbers continue to rise and everyone has worked extremely hard,” he said.
“Unfortunately with all this rain the past few weeks we have only been able to fit one trial match in and train a handful of times, but in saying that, I was proud of how the boys played in the trial match and I think we are fitter this year then at this time last year.
“The loss of players will be helped by young players Tom Page, Zac Remnant and Hayden Chapman stepping up. I’m also looking for big seasons from Jesse Jackson, Hayden Lavender, Chris Agars and Paul Maher.”
White, while confident, isn’t being unrealistic for his goals this year.
“I just want our team to work together and stay positive this year, if we can do that then the results will come and we will have a great chance of playing finals football,” he said.
The Sharks open the season at Culburra.
