The NSW government has allocated $18 million this financial year to continue planning of the 10.5 km upgrade.
“Work involves building a left turn slip lane for motorists turning out of Moss Vale Road who are travelling north on the Princes Highway,” Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said.
“The upgrade will also include an extra lane to be built on the northern side of the roundabout for motorists exiting Moss Vale Road and either travelling south on the Princes Highway or east on Cambewarra Road.”
It is anticipated the work will reduce the impact and queue lengths for Moss Vale Road motorists and is expected to be complete late August 2017, weather permitting.
“It is expected that after the Foxground and Berry bypass is completed, more motorists will use the highway instead of the ‘sandtrack’ and this upgrade will reduce queuing on the roundabout in peak times,” Mr Ward said.
“Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm Monday to Saturday and between 8pm and 5am Sunday to Friday as required.
“For the safety of workers and motorists, the road shoulder in the northbound direction near the worksite will be closed.”
One lane will be intermittently closed at the worksite at night, traffic control and a reduced 40km/h speed limit will be in place during work hours.
