A Land and Environment Court hearing into the controversial $13.6 million Rockfield Park development proposal at Bellawongarah has been adjourned until later next month.

The Hamilton family through Camberlee Investments has applied to build a 42-cabin complex including a restaurant which could seat up to 300 people on the property between Berry and Kangaroo Valley.

The proposal for Kangaroo Valley Road was rejected by Shoalhaven City Council and the Joint Regional Planning Panel in 2015 due to a planned a function centre which was  prohibited under planning rules.

The applicants have since changed the function centre to a restaurant.

The Land and Environment Court started hearing the case on site at Bellawongarah in Monday, with a number of local residents giving evidence.

Commissioner Rosemary Martin heard submissions from nine residents on behalf of the community, who raised a number of issues with the proposal, the environmental impact, road safety, bushfire safety, energy, water and sewage, noise issues, the change to the public amenity and if the development could actually be considered ecotourism, as was first stated.

Commissioner Martin continued the hearing in Sydney on Tuesday and Wednesday before adjourning the matter part heard.

The hearing will resume on April 26, with a further day set aside.
