The Bureau of Meteorology has warned the thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall, which could lead to flash flooding, during the next few hours.
At 1pm, the warning covered inland parts of the Illawarra and South Coast forecast districts.
The forecast of more wet weather comes after no rain was recorded at Albion Park or Bellambi in the 24 hours to 9am on Tuesday – the first dry day since Monday last week.
In the past seven days, 234mm of rain has fallen at Albion Park.
The inland suburb’s average monthly rainfall for March is 121mm.
On the coast, 140mm fell at Bellambi during the same period.
Heavy falls across the region, during a short space of time, on Thursday caused widespread flash flooding.
