FOR the second straight match-up, the St George Illawarra Dragons women’s team have fallen to rivals the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. At Southern Cross Group Stadium, the Sharks, led by Gerringong’s Ruan Sims defeated Talia Atifled, of Bomaderry, and her Dragons 20-4.

“Both teams we very different to last time, but unfortunately the result was still the same,” Atfield said.

“Despite the result, there’s still plenty of positives to take from the game, such as the experience that our younger players got from the match – which should bode well for our next game.”

It was always going to be a tough game for the Dragons, who were without 2016 Dally M women’s player of the year Kezie Apps.

“It’s good to know the level of discipline and skill we need to be at if we want to compete with teams like the Sharks,” Atfield said.

“We’ll now concentrate on the upcoming matches against Canberra and South Sydney.”
