The Land Showgirl Zone 2 dinner was held at Berry Showground on Saturday night, where Berry Show Society hosted the event for the first time in more than a decade.
Miss Nelson was overcome by emotion after the announcement.
“It’s just astonishing, it didn’t even register that it was my name to begin with,” she said.
“It’s an incredible feeling, I’m very honoured and surprised.”
All 11 showgirls spent the day together, enjoying a luncheon and getting to know each other.
“We were able to talk about our own areas and our own interests with such passion,” Miss Nelson said.
“It was the one thing I was looking forward to, being able to meet the girls and see what made them tick and how their shows worked.”
About 180 guests went along to find out which two showgirls would make their way to the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Showgirls from 11 Agricultural Shows including Hawkesbury, Picton, Frenchs Forest, St Ives, Camden, Nowra, Berry, Kiama, Milton, Dapto and Albion Park were interviewed and judged throughout the evening.
