Lance Jones, 55, was arrested about 5.40am on Wednesday after police received a number of calls in relation to the way a Subura station wagon, heading south on the Princes Highway at Bomaderry, was being driven.
Police from the Shoalhaven Local Area Command allegedly found the vehicle near the intersection of Cambewarra Road.
Officers allegedly saw the car, which had suffered accident damage and was driving on the rim of one of the front wheels, swerve onto the incorrect side of the roadway.
Police stopped the vehicle in Cambewarra Road, where Jones returned a positive roadside breath test.
He was taken to the Nowra Police Station for a breath analysis, which returned a reading of .213.
Police checks revealed he was also disqualified from driving.
Jones was charged with high range drink driving and driving while disqualified.
He was refused bail when he appeared before deputy registrar Nicole Brookes in Nowra Local Court on Wednesday.
He will reappear on March 6.
