As I am sitting at my desk writing the next riveting “On the Beat”, I can’t help but wonder if I will ever get to sleep tonight.

Reason being Thursday (February 23) was Coffee with a Cop day.
Already after two events (Berry and Nowra) I seem to have exceeded my daily requirement of caffeine.
I am writing this column so fast that you will have to read it slowly to be able to understand it.
We also had another chance to catch up with residents at Ulladulla later in the afternoon.
In the last “On The Beat” I described the idea about Coffee with a Cop.
It was your opportunity to come and have a cuppa with your local police officers.
Many people came down and had a chat however there were probably many more people who couldn’t attend.
So I say to you, you don’t have to wait for a specific event for an opportunity to talk to a cop, if you have a question for police, pop in to your local police station the next time you go past.
If you see a police officer walking around the CBD, stop and have a chat. Take the opportunity.
We are still getting wallets and other items stolen from unlocked vehicles from time to time.
I know I keep going on about it and I know that you are sick of me going on about it.
So how about we make a deal.
If everyone in the Shoalhaven locks their cars and remove their valuables from now on, I will promise that I will never mention vehicle security again.
That’s it for this week, enjoy the weekend.
As always, in case of an emergency call 000. In non-emergencies call the Policelink on 131 444 or your local police station. To provide anonymous information call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000. For domestic and family violence information, visit www.police.nsw.gov.au. For Shoalhaven Domestic Violence officers call 4421 9666 or 4421 9665 or email shoaldvlo@police.nsw.gov.au.
Don’t forget, cops are tops.
