Cr Robert Khan is unhappy that the highlands have been left with hot train carriages with no air-conditioning, while the NSW Government has purchased a new fleet of intercity trains for use on other lines.
On top of this, he said highlands commuters heading to the city have to change at Macarthur – where they could end up on another train with no air-conditioning.
“Wollondilly train travellers using our third world Southern Highland train service have to connect with these non-air-conditioned trains at Macarthur or Campbelltown because of an almost non-existent direct to city service,” he said.
The news comes after Campbelltown MP Greg Warren moved a motion condemning the government “for its inaction on the issue of non-air-conditioned trains for Campbelltown commuters”.
Mr Warren also wanted the government to take “immediate action” to fulfill an election commitment to remove all non-air-conditioned trains from the network.
Transport for NSW was contacted for comment.
