The Choppers for Charity event is now in its 15th year and provides a full day of fun-filled community activities.
On Saturday night, at the RSL Club, you can order your meal from the bistro then enjoy a mind-bending trivia night and auction.
This night is very popular and space is limited.
This fabulous evening will only cost you $10 – food and drinks extra – so get a table together of your club members, neighbours or friends.
The day to be in Sussex of course is this Sunday, February 26.
There will be a variety of stalls opening at 9am along the waterfront and the huge parade commences at 11am.
As in recent years, the parade will leave from Finkernagel Oval and march, dance, play and drive their way down Jacobs Drive to the RSL Club. Stand kerbside along Jacobs Drive with your camera and photograph, applaud, and cheer the parade of emergency vehicles, cars, bikes, floats and local community groups.
Funds raised go to CareFlight, a charity that provides emergency medical treatment, air evacuation, research, development and training. CareFlight began in 1986 when a group of people wanted to create a better retrieval service in Australia. The beginnings of CareFlight were humble, with just one helicopter based at Westmead Hospital in NSW. Initially there was only one doctor on duty each day, and CareFlight transported an average of four patients a month.
Today CareFlight has 12 doctors on rostered duty every day. These doctors fly into every state and territory in Australia, treating over 5000 patients per year. In fact CareFlight operates internationally as well through our “CareFlight International Air Ambulance”.
CareFlight uses helicopters, aeroplanes, jets and road ambulances to bring patients to emergency hospital care, and provide critical care specialists who can perform procedures on the severely injured at the accident scene.
Come to Sussex Inlet on Sunday for a wonderful family-friendly time and remember CareFlight – the next life they save could be yours.
