The critically acclaimed musician made six albums in seven years.
In that intense early burst, Throsby was nominated for ARIA Awards, toured widely, recorded in the USA and on right here on the South Coast, and made an album with two other singer-songwriters whose talent outstripped their profiles, Sarah Blasko and Sally Seltmann, as Seeker Lover Keeper.
Holly’s debut novel, Goodwood, was published by Allen & Unwin in October 2016.
Goodwood was described as “wonderfully lush and well realised” by The Australian, and “a complete revelation” by the Sydney Morning Herald.
Set in a fictional South Coast town, the book is part murder-mystery, part coming of age story and part drily humorous multiple character study.
It came in at number 7 in ABC’s The Book Club’s Top Ten (as voted by viewers) and was number 3 on Dymocks’ list of the Best Books of 2016.
Goodwood has since been shortlisted for an Indie Book Award in the Debut Fiction category.
Holly has been nominated for four ARIA Awards – including two for Best Female Artist, and one for Best Children’s Album.
Holly has toured at home and abroad with musicians such as Joanna Newsom, Bill Callahan, Paul Kelly, Devendra Banhart, The Tallest Man on Earth and The Handsome Family.
She has guested on albums by Jack Ladder, TZU, Josh Pyke, The Sleepy Jackson and Hayden and has appeared live on stage with Andrew Bird and Glen Hansard and recorded with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.
Holly is a council member for the animal protection institute, Voiceless. She likes good books, cryptic crosswords, small towns, and dogs.
Holly Throsby will perform at Milton Theatre on Saturday, March 11.
Tickets are $34 and on sale now via the Milton Theatre website at thelittleboxoffice.com/miltontheatre or Country Leather on 4455 3056.
