Man dead, two people arrested after 'altercation' at Padstow home

A man has died and two people have been arrested following an altercation in Sydney's west early on Saturday morning.

A 29-year-old Irish national died from a stab wound to the neck following a fight involving a number of people, police said.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to a home on Watson Road, Padstow about 12.20am on Saturday morning, where they attempted to save the man. He died at the scene.

Police say there were three women and a man at the property when a second man arrived at the home, leading to an altercation.

The women were not hurt. The second man sustained minor injuries.

A 25-year-old Irish woman, who lives at the home, was arrested by Bankstown Police. A  36-year-old Revesby man was also arrested.

The pair were taken to Bankstown Police Station but no charges have been laid.

Police confirmed officers from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad were assisting Bankstown detectives with the investigation.

The Irish Consulate in Sydney is also assisting police.
