A recent auction raised $280 for the Animal Welfare League (AWL) Shoalhaven branch and a hamper packed with treats has been donated to Shoalhaven RSPCA.
The hamper saw the children and their families gather everything from pet food to jackets and accessories for the animals at the Shoalhaven RSCPA shelter.
“We’re hoping to do a community event every six to eight weeks,” Dianne Blackie, centre owner/director at Bomaderry Learning Centre said.
“It’s good for the children to understand it’s important to help others and think about others.”
Mary Lumsden from Animal Welfare League and Shoalhaven RSPCA volunteers thanked the children for their much-appreciated donation.
Ms Lumsden said while the donation is much-appreciated, the group is also in need of carers.
“All you need to do is provide love and a secure home,” she said.
“We pay for all the vet bills, food and anything else required.”
