THE 2017 motocross season has started with the first round of the East Coast Mx Series held at Lake Macquarie on the Central Coast.

The Nowra Motorcycle Club was well represented with a number of riders finishing in the  top five at the event which was a great result for these competitors, with a majority of the class with full gates.

Hightlights included Kurt Gow (fifth in pro-open), Tori Dare (second women's class), Billy Payne (third 12-14yrs 85cc), Connor Rossandich (fourth 12-14yrs 85cc), Nate Thompson (fifth 9-12yrs 65cc) and Zane Thompson (secnd 7-9yrs 50cc).

Conditions for the event were particularly tough with temperatures reaching up to 39 degrees throughout the days.

The Nowra Motorcycle Club season starts on February 19 and it looks to be an exciting year ahead for all our competitors. The new board hopes to grow the club this year by having a well prepared track for its club days and maintains its enduro events into 2017.

The Shoalhaven traditionally has been a breeding ground over the years for a number of great riders including Robbie Maddison, Luke Styke, Kurt Gow, the Moss Brothers learning their trade here.
