Shoalhaven 20, a new 7.5 metre Ocean Cylinder built by Yamba Welding and Engineering, arrived in the Shoalhaven last Friday and was launched at Greys Beach in Nowra.
The vessel is powered by twin 250hp Suzuki four stroke outboard engines and includes the latest electronics provided by Raymarine such as radar, FLIR (forward looking infrared cameras), electronic charts and AIS (automatic identification system, an automatic tracking system used for collision avoidance), all monitored through three multi-function displays.
After being lowered into the Shoalhaven River by crane, Shoalhaven 20 was towed to its berth at Greenwell Point by Shoalhaven 30.
Marine Rescue Shoalhaven publicity officer Bill Carter said the vessel would not become operational until crews were inducted and trained on the new hi-tech systems.
“It is anticipated that will be completed in the next two months,” he said.
Shoalhaven 20 will be a sister ship to Jervis Bay 20, Batemans Bay 20 which were launched in 2016, and to Ulladulla 20 which will be completed and launched later this year.
