Amanda Farrugia was named captain after a 3, 2, 1 vote by the players, with Emma Swanson (vice-captain), Collier, Jessica Dal Pos and Jess Bibby assisting her.

“It’s always good to be elected and recognised by your peers, especially with so many talented girls in our squad,” Collier said.

”I’ve always had aspirations of being a leader, as I felt I can contribute in a number of ways but this title won’t change my approach to the game.

“It’s just really exciting to be part of the first ever Giants leadership group.”

With the Giants first ever game just over two weeks away, Collier said training is starting to ramp up.

“Training has been hot lately, which is acclimatising us perfectly for the season,” she said. 

“All the girls are excited with our first game in sight.”
