The festival committee launched a Support Fund on Tuesday, January 17 with an afternoon tea at WAMINDA.
All funds raised, after festival running costs of $6000, will be made available to the newly established Shoalhaven Women’s Wellness Support Fund. It will be used to support women throughout the year.
The committee is seeking support from the community and businesses to raise more than $6000 and help to establish the Support Fund.

“This will provide more women with access to practical support for such things as accommodation costs, counselling and group support, emergency financial support and transport costs.

Each year the festival focuses on an important health and wellness related topic.
This year the focus is on early cancer screening, which can help to protect people’s health through early detection and treatment.
National screening programs are available in Australia to detect breast cancer, bowel cancer and cervical cancer.
This year the Support Fund will allocate funds to local cancer support services.
Festival coordinator Louisa Sassen said the funds will help local women through their treatment.
“This will provide more women with access to practical support for such things as accommodation costs, counselling and group support, emergency financial support and transport costs,” she said.
“Since it’s inception the festival has connected more than 3000 women with important health information and services.”
Cindy Cunningham from Look Good Feel Better attended the launch and shared how the Support Fund can help women benefit from the program.
“It teaches women more than just how to apply make up. It boosts self esteem and helps women feel more positive and confident during cancer treatment,” Ms Cunningham said.
Look Good Feel Better relies on the support of volunteers and donations.
