Windang trailblazer Ben Bell has shown he has what it takes to make his mark on the 2016-17 Tri Series after a defiant win over Bondi’s Jason Wendemuth and Dan Robins from Merewether in Sunday’s Standard distance.
Local Nowra triathlete and known strong swimmer Josh Henry exited the water a solid minute and a half clear of the lead pack before Bell and Wendemuth reeled him in on the bike. Bell proved too strong for Wenedmuth through transition and onto the run with Bell taking out the win in a time of 2.02.56 ahead of Wendemuth in 2.04.52 and Robins of Merewether in 2.07.28.
Monica Juhart from Hunters Hill took line honours in the women’s standard distance in annihilating form, finishing in a time of 2.16.53, a staggering 18 minutes clear of second place Mara Garanzini (2.34.16) and Ellen Glennan (2.38.59).
