A BOMADERRY man who failed to provide sufficient food for a dog and veterinary treatment for her six puppies has been ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and pay the RSPCA costs of more than $2000.

Gavin John Hayman, 42, pleaded guilty to failing to provide food and sufficient veterinary treatment for the dogs in Nowra Local Court.
RSPCA documents stated between August 2 and August 16 last year he failed to provide sufficient food for a Staffy cross bitch, Lawana, while she was lactating.
The court heard he also failed to provide sufficient veterinary treatment for the four-week-old pups which were suffering a heavy infestation of roundworm.
RSPCA officers and Shoalhaven City Council rangers attended the property in May and December 2015, and early August last year.
RSPCA officers and police attended the home on August 10 with a search warrant and found the six puppies inside the house in a makeshift pen made of cardboard.
A second pen made out of car tyres contained five older puppies which had no shelter, on the property’s front lawn.
The 11 puppies were surrendered to the RSPCA, while Lawana was seized.
