There are plenty of tourists about, people are still on holidays and life’s good.
Over the Christmas New Year’s period there are extra police patrolling the Shoalhaven to keep you safe and to reduce crime, including property crime and street offences.
These patrols are part of a number of preventative strategies police are performing to reduce property offences throughout the Shoalhaven.
In order to reduce these offences, Shoalhaven Police require assistance from residents to reduce the likelihood of offences such as thefts from residential yards, carports, garages and thefts from motor vehicles.
I have spoken about this before but during the festive season with the corresponding influx of holidaymakers there are many more targets available for the criminal element
Please lock the car doors, remove your valuables from the vehicle, close the garage door and lock it, do not leave it unlocked.
If you have toolboxes in the back of the ute, secure them with a lock and a device that reduces the ability for criminals to cut the lock with bolt cutters.
Do not leave bikes, lawn mowers, toys, gardening equipment or other items out in the front yards particularly overnight. This is an easy way of preventing property crimes from occurring.
If you are staying in a caravan park/tourist village please be mindful that there are children around and drive slowly
I hope you have a good year this year and enjoy your holidays.
