Four cars were swept off the Monaro Highway after flash flooding hit the area between Michelago and Bredbo about 7pm on Friday.
A creek at Colinton broke its banks and a number of vehicles were swept off the road as a result. No one was injured.
The highway was closed briefly as the water subsided, leaving mud and dirt in it's wake.
Monaro police were notified of the incident by motorists travelling to the coast. They attended the scene along with SES and RFS volunteers.
Monaro police duty officer Michael Handley said the flash flood was as a result of a localised weather cell west of the highway which produced an abundance of rain in a very short time.
