Instead of learning how well he did, the popular Nowra Anglican College student will be farewelled by his family and friends.

”Dimitri has been a valued member of the college community. He was a thoughtful and honest young man who was highly regarded by staff and students alike,” said executive principal Lorrae Sampson.

“While Dimitri achieved highly academically and in sport, his real passion was for music where he specialised in guitar. He represented the school in regular musical performances as a soloist, in duets and as a guitar accompanist.

“Dimitri will be missed by our community.”

Mrs Sampson said the college’s priority was to support the family and all students and staff affected by this tragedy.

“Special provisions have been made for students affected by the tragedy this week. Year 12 students are invited to return to the college to meet with our pastoral care team and the college counsellor.”

All students have been offered additional counselling and support.

“Our staff are working hard to ensure every child is cared for in an appropriate manner,” Mrs Sampson said.

She thanked the community for its compassion and asked that the family’s wishes for privacy were respected.

The circumstances of the accident are still the subject of police investigation as they prepare a report for the Coroner.
