Competing in the under 16s girls division and representing New South Wales, she proved why she is one of the top junior surfers in the country.
After finishing second in round one, she progressed straight to the quarter-finals.
She won he quarter-final with a score 15.25, which therefore moved her into the top eight.
Fulton kept her strong form going in the semi-final, scoring 11.5 to win her respective heat, in which she defeated eventual winner Jamaica Selby, who scored 10.05.
In the decider, Fulton scored 14.3 and was just edged out by Western Australia’s Selby, who scored 14.6, to claim the national title.
Other girls to compete in the final were New South Wales’ Bodhi Leigh-Jones (12.25) and April Macpherson (11.1)
