SHOALHAVEN Ex-Servicemen have broken through for their first win of the 2016/17 SDCA season, defeating Bay and Basin at Hayden Drexel Oval.

Batting first on Saturday, after winning the toss, Bay and Basin posted the competitive total of of 151 from 44.4 overs.
Michael Perry was again the top-scorer for the visitors, scoring 69 before being run out, while team mates Darren O'Keefe (24) and Luke Gogerly (18) also contributed with the bat.
Graham Phillis and Matt Smit both claimed three wickets for the hosts, while Nate Jones finished with two scalps.
In reply, the hosts started shakily as Jones (nil) and Chaise Boulding (two) were dismissed cheaply.
But experienced campaigners Daniel Gleeson (55) and Trevor Thomason (53) both scored half centuries to secure Ex-Servos maiden victory for the season.
The hosts passed the total (6/155) in the 39th over, thanks to a crafty 11 not out by Rodney Davis .
The top bowlers for Basin were Michael Dolby (2/18) and Thomas Dolby (2/27), while Perry and Gogerly backed up their batting performances by both taking a wicket each.
After six rounds of competition, Nowra remain in first place on 72 points, with reigning-champions Berry-Shoalhaven Heads in second on 53. Bomaderry is a point back on 52, then comes North Nowra-Cambewarra (48), Ulladulla United (35), Bay and Basin (27) and Ex-Servos (19).
