Rink 8 held the first game of triples with Michael Hill, Josh Ward and Ray Solway finishing strongly to take the game by 19 to 10 shots. Rink 9 resulted in Garry Way, Norm Shultz and Alessandro Lattanzio playing marvellous bowls to overwhelm their opponents by 32 shots to 13. Rink 10 Gary Trautsch, Matthew Rosina and Trevor Politch played superb bowls to triumph over their adversaries by 19 to 16 shots. Rink 11 witnessed an outstanding display of bowls by John O’Dell and Peter Smith to annihilate their opposition by 30 shots to 7. On Saturday 3rd December, two games of Social Triples were played as well as one game of Pairs. Rink 2 witnessed Les Stuart, John O’Dell and Tim McCormack play superb bowls to overpower the opposition by 23 to 16 shots. Rink 4 held to game of the week. Ray Solway and Gary Thurston opened superbly to burst away to a great lead 8/0 by the 3rd end. Michael Hill and Garnet Eastment tried to get into the game with some well won ends but Ray and Gary were just too strong. Even a fantastic 4 on the 10th end by Michael and Garnet could only bring them up 7/12 shots. By the 14th end, Ray and Gary had jumped away to a seemingly unbeatable lead at 19/7 shots. And there they stalled as Michael and Garnet finally found their length and closed in one end at a time. 1 shot, 3 shots, 1 shot and so it went on for 6 ends until at the penultimate end they were only 2 shots behind at 17/19. They could dredge a fantastic win if only they could score 3 shots on the last end. Could they do it? No, Ray Solway and Gary Thurston won the last end by a shot to take the game by 20 shots to 17. Well played everyone. Rink 6 was a very close tussle with Gary Way, Steve Hollington and Peter Smith outlasting their opposition to win by 24 to 18 shots. Recent social play of a Wednesday and Thursday has seen very competitive matches played under relatively good weather conditions. Matches of note include the triples match won by Peter Webb, Bob Holdaway and Derek Raymond. This trio found themselves behind at end 13, tied at end 17 and then hit their form to take the match by three shots from Larry Portener, Arch Mackinnon and Phil Chittick. In another triples match Brian Povey, Keith Davidson and Nick Nicholls had a good lead at mid match but then Mark power, Barry Dunn and Col good took over but left their run to late to claim the match.
On Saturday 3rd Adam Rigney and Nick Nicholls found form that could not be matched by Phil Chittick and Terry Hayes who made the final score look a little better by getting four shots on the last end. In a mixed triples match Edwina Skinner, Ken Stephens and Derek Raymond had a strong win over Denise Prentice, Barry Dunn and Geoff Lidbetter.
Social Wednesday and Thursday play will continue up until Christmas and visitors are most welcome and can book on 0488 729 229 by 12 noon day of play.
