With the commercial growth in South Nowra and the construction of the correctional centre, so too has come an increased volume of traffic.

Resident Rod Foyel has lived on Links Road for 15 years and said two car accidents since September has highlighted the need for improvements.
A car hit a concrete telegraph pole outside their home, which caused an 11,000 volt power surge, destroying the electrics in their house.
“We were out of power for a week,” Mr Foyer said.
“Council say we don’t get anymore traffic here at all, but that’s rubbish.
“With the development of the jail and throughout South Nowra, there is more traffic than ever.
“The road degrades very quickly and the dust level is out of control. I’ve been trying to get council to seal the road for years, it’s beyond a joke.”
I don’t want to think about what it will be like when someone hits that pole, I expect to walk out and find dead people.

Mr Foyer came out of his home late on Friday night after hearing a loud noise to find wheel marks indicating a car had narrowly missed a tree outside his home.
“They lost it sideways around the bend and came close to hitting a tree,” he said.
“We get the ‘car hoons’ come out here and they drift up and down here all night long.
“It’s only a matter of time before someone is killed here on this bend.
“Speed is obviously a factor, but with the sheer volume of traffic and the state of the road, it’s unsafe.”
Mr Foyer said it was about time Council fixed the one kilometre stretch of heavily corrugated road.
“Council have a policy to seal all roads within five kilometres of the CBD, Links Road and Prosperity Road are the last roads that need sealing and they won’t do them,” he said.
“Joanna Gash, Paul Green and Greg Watson have all promised to seal this road, then they changed their mind.
“It’s about time Council got with the program and fixed it up, that’s three Mayors who said they were going to seal the road and not one of them has done it.
“I don’t want to think about what it will be like when someone hits that pole, I expect to walk out and find dead people.”
