Coolangatta Estate has finished the 2016 Wine Show Season in spectacular form with the 2005 Coolangatta Estate Semillon winning the trophy for Semillon of the Year at the 2016 Winestate Wine of the Year awards.

The awards are judged from over 10,000 wines from across Australia and New Zealand in 12 categories.
Coolangatta Estate owner Greg Bishop Greg Bishop was on hand to collect the Trophy in Adelaide.
This result comes on the back of the recent win at the Sydney International Wine Show.
It has been a stellar year for the Estate, which has won 196 awards for its wines, including 14 trophies and 22 gold medals.
While Semillon continues to be the star at the Estate, cellar door manager Ben Wallis said other varieties including Tannat, Verdelho and Chardonnay have also won significant awards this year.
“In a wine growing region that is known to have high humidity and rainfall, these results are especially significant for the entirely Estate grown producer,” Mr Wallis said.
“These results continue to show the area cannot be overlooked as a high quality wine producing region.”
Mr Bishop puts the success down to some simple reasons.
“The combination of a great site, selecting the right varieties to grow, putting the hours in the vineyard over the season and having one of the best winemaking teams in the country, in Tyrrells making our wines,” he said.
The Estate has now won more than 1800 wine awards including 168 trophies for its wines since its first vintage in 1990.
