A man has died after getting into trouble while snorkelling near Moruya on the NSW south coast on Sunday.

The 43-year-old Moruya man was snorkelling with two other people in waters off Pedro Point when he experienced "difficulties" and was pulled onto a boat, NSW police said in a statement.
Far South Coast Surf Lifesaving duty officer Andrew Edmunds told the Batemans Bay Post the man had been conscious when his companions helped him onto the boat but had lost consciousness by the time the boat reached Preddys Wharf at Moruya.
Paramedics and volunteers from Moruya Surf Life Saving Club met the boat at Preddys Wharf and gave him CPR, however the man could not be revived.
Police have launched an investigation into his death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
Mr Edmunds offered sympathy to the man's family.
"We offer condolences to the family and to all involved." he said.
"It is tragic for the Moruya community and we are particularly sad at this time, so close to Christmas."
