Shoalhaven Community College offers a professional learning environment with individualised attention. School leavers and adult learners looking for an opportunity to gain a qualification or learn new skills can visit the college or call for a prospectus.
On Wednesday, November 9 Shoalhaven Community College’s Hair and Beauty School will showcase its options for those interested in a career in the industry. From 4.30 until 7.30pm, visitors can explore the modern training facilities, meet the qualified trainers and learn about the nationally accredited qualifications in hair and beauty.
“Our track record for employment outcomes is excellent with a high percentage of our students in Certificate III in Hairdressing and the Diploma of Beauty Therapy course gaining employment in 2015, which is an outstanding achievement,” co-ordinator Lillian Spence said. “We pride ourselves on working with salon owners to deliver the outcomes they need for current apprentices and also prospective employees. We are pleased to offer places subsidised by the NSW government in 2017. The college is also approved for the VET FEE-HELP loan scheme for Diploma students.”

VET FEE-HELP loan is a loan scheme under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 that helps students with their tuition fees and these fees are repaid like a HECS style loan through the Australian Taxation System once students reach a certain income. “We are very excited to offer subsidised training places in a range of qualifications across most vocational areas in 2017,” executive officer Helen Zwicker said.
There are 30 other qualification courses also commencing in the new year at the community college, with most attracting subsidies from the NSW government. Students can undertake nationally accredited study in the fields of business, accounting, fitness, horticulture, outdoor recreation, and more in a friendly, supportive and professional environment.
The college also has articulation arrangements with University of Wollongong so that students gaining a Certificate IV or Diploma qualification can gain entry into a number of degree courses at the university.
Shoalhaven Community College also continues to offer a range of fun and enjoyable courses such as buying and selling on eBay, languages, cooking, computers and more. Course information can be found at www.kcc.nsw.edu.au or by calling 4423 0351.
The Shoalhaven Community College is located on the corner of Mattes Way and the Princes Highway at Bomaderry. Anyone interested in attending the Hair and Beauty Open Day can register by calling 4423 0351 or drop in on the day.
