The South Coast right arm legspin bowler and right hand batsman will compete at the under 19 national championships.
Engelbrecht was selected in this team on the back of a strong performances at the state under 19 challenge in Richmond and for the country colts carnival in Dubbo in September.
The 17-year-old’s high score during this carnival was 105 while his best figures with the ball were 3/27 from 10 overs.
Engelbrecht’s father Peter said his son has been training hard for another chance to represent his state.
“Tom trains with the ACT rookie Comets training in Canberra every Wednesday and plays first grade for Western Districts UC in the Canberra competition every weekend,” he said.
“He also trains regularly with Tommy Purcell, who he has learnt plenty off.”
