Firefighters arrived at 66 Kalandar Street to a house well alight.
Adjoining properties were protected while the fire was extinguished. During and after the fire the house was searched for occupants. There were no people inside at the time.
Shoalhaven Fire and Rescue station officer Mick Adams said the initial call was to an electrical fire at the property.
Police said witnesses heard a loud bang in the house. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
It was the third house fire local firefighters had attended in the past nine days.
On Tuesday at 6.30pm firefighters were called to a car fire on Hollands Road in South Nowra. The car was in the front yard of a property, however the flames had spread to the house.
“The front of the house was alight when we arrived but we stopped it from spreading to the rest of the house,” Mr Adams said.
“The car was destroyed and the front of the house was substantially damaged.
“That property was very overgrown with grass and bushes. A good reminder for people to keep the grass down around their homes,” he said.
On October 19 at 9.30pm firefighters attended a house alight at South Nowra. The house was being used by squatters. It is believed they had lit a fire which had spread to the read of the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire. Nobody was at the house at the time.
