Batting first, Queensland could only muster 186, thanks to the damaging bowling of Nathan Lyon, who ended his 10 overs with figures of 4/10. In response, NSW chased down the total in the 44th over, for the loss of only four wickets.
Shoalhaven product Nic Maddinson only contributed three runs, while Moises Henriques led the way with 83.
Maddinson, who ended the series with 292 runs at an average of 41.71, has since been ruled out of the team’s upcoming Sheffield Shield match against Queensland because of concussion.
Cricket NSW Doctor John Orchard said: “Nic began feeling unwell during the latter part of the final and subsequently failed a further concussion test after the match.
“As a result, he has been withdrawn from the Sheffield Shield squad.”
