The eight-year-old was a stand out for judge Brian Parker, from Denman.
Parker, who milks a herd of around 250 Illawarra cows, said the winner was an outstanding cow.
“She’s a great cow. Look at the body, the capacity, she is the type of cow you want,” he said.
“She has capacity plus. A cow I just couldn’t go past.
“Although small in numbers the quality of cattle presented before me was high, which was no surprise as the spring fair has that reputation.”
Kangawarra Heather won the Bellringer Trophy, a special award donated by the late Don Norman and his family.
It was the 22nd year the trophy has been awarded.
Reserve Bellringer was Tom and Kyleigh Cochrane’s entry Kangawarra Elaine from Pyree. The couple also took out the best uddered cow with Kangawarra Myrtle.
Junior champion was Eagle Park Anticipation Pamela shown by Natalie and Tim Cochrane, while reserve junior champion was Kangawarra Buttercup shown by Tom and Kyleigh Cochrane.
Around 40 of the best Illawarra dairy cows from the area were in Berry for the 49th annual show, which traditionally kicks off the local cattle showing season.
Cows from seven different farms contested the show, with classes ranging from under six months to mature cows, over six years in milk.
Another part of the show was the junior judging competition, which this year was won by St John’s year 9 student Nick Chittick ahead of Emma Roach and Kyah Brown.
Next show on the agenda is the 15th annual South Coast and Tablelands Spring Heifer Classic, again at the Berry Showground on Sunday, November 20.
Local farmers will then prepare animals for Australia’s International Dairy Week at Tatura, which leads into the local agricultural showing circuit at Kiama, Berry, Nowra, Kangaroo Valley and Milton.
